Microsoft presented several new features for Bing Chat on Thursday (4). The company's generative artificial intelligence will be more integrated into Edge, it has gained support for more than 100 languages in the image creator, conversation history and will receive more actions - including opening streams for you. Bing Chat is now open to everyone, just open the search engine to test the AI.
Until yesterday, Microsoft still required those interested in a preview (yes, it's still a preview) of its generative AI to sign up for a waiting list. Approval in the queue was quick and helped popularize Edge and the company's search engine — not least because the curiosity to use the feature attracted people who weren't interested in Bing.
Microsoft's AI will also be released to third-party applications, allowing it to be used in other services and features. Bing Chat will also have a “redesign” in its answers. The search engine will no longer respond only with text, but will provide images and graphics.
Bing Chat gets new features and helps with streaming
Among these innovations, the one that will probably be most used by the general public is the search for movies in streaming. With so many services, figuring out where the movie you want to see is can be a bit of a hassle. You search for the film, check the answers, go to the indicated streaming (if you have a subscription to it) and search for the content – if it has not already left the service.
Bing Chat's new action promises to make this experience easier by cutting out a few steps. The artificial intelligence lists the streams that contain the movie you are looking for. From that answer, you can ask to play the movie on the desired service, as long as you have the subscription — obvious.
Something that is already working in Portuguese is the Bing image creator. Microsoft has released the resource for more than 100 languages. It can be accessed through the image creator's own website or through Bing chat using the creative conversation mode.
Speaking of images, they will also go into Bing Chat responses — just like graphics. In the tests carried out by Tecnoblog, we did not get these types of results when we asked in a more general way. When directly asking for photos, the AI showed previews from the Bing Image search, nothing new. Gradually, Microsoft is including the search function by uploading images in the chat.
Bing ready walking to also be an assistant
As stated at the beginning of the text, Microsoft announced that Bing will have more integration with Edge and third-party resources. About this, an example given by the company was the reservation in a restaurant through the OpenTable website, which provides reservation service in establishments. Bing Chat can access the service and schedule at a suggested time. This news will be released soon.
In the integration with Edge, Microsoft is releasing the function of opening a link through the Bing chat without closing the AI. In this way, the user opens the page and the conversation will be on the side, like Bing Chat when opened by the extension. This way, you are not taken to a new page. AI will also save search history.
Bing usage has jumped in the last 90 days
Microsoft also revealed that Bing has more than 100 million active users since the launch of Bing Chat. In total, over 500 million searches are performed by generative AI. Now without presenting numbers, the company reported that the daily installation of the Bing mobile app is four times higher.
